About Roaming Rick James
"Roaming Rick James", as I have decided to call myself, is a brand-new adventure I am undertaking. After teaching for twenty years in Georgia (3rd through 7th grades), I decided it was time to take some risks and explore the world, so I canceled my teaching contract at the end of the school year and immediately prepared for two trips during the summer and upcoming winter (more about those trips to Indonesia and Japan elsewhere on this site).
Many co-workers, friends, and family members said I was crazy or wouldn't have to guts to do it, yet here I am. It's scary; not gonna lie. But I felt like it had to be done. "If not now, when?" is one of my favorite quotes, as well as "Make it work". I intend to live up to both of these inspirational messages over this next year (and hopefully beyond, with your support!).
To sum it all up, I will be working various small jobs in substitute teaching and AI chatbot training to pay the bills while I sprinkle in more and more adventures, hopefully making this my full-time gig, giving folks who are unable to break away from "the grind" just yet a place to escape, through my videos and pictures from around the world.

My channels will be a combination of photos (of course), travel videos with commentary, and walking videos (without my voice and face to spoil the relaxation). YouTube will be the home of my videos, while TikTok and Instagram will rightfully contain the pics and shorts/reels. I hope you enjoy!
Inspiration
Not long enough ago, I realized I could save money and improve my life by canceling my cable TV. All I needed was YouTube, where I have come across some of the most amazing folks whom I consider my inspirations in this life/adventure/risk on which I have now embarked.

Philosophy
The two most important things in my life are Jesus Christ and my daughters, Annika and Natalya. The first will never change; my daughters, however, don't need ol' dad as much as they used to. While I have dedicated my life to ensuring they have everything they need to be successful, one has graduated college and is embarking on her own adventures, while the other has only two years remaining in college and will also bust out into the world (and probably dominate it!). Therefore, it's time to get out there. It's time to go experience all of those risks and rewards that I watch others enjoy on those YouTube channels I mentioned above.
I don't want to be that guy who waits until he's 65, finally retires, and then is too old to enjoy the world properly. I gave up a rather nice salary, but I don't want to chase the money like most other folks do; I'm chasing my dreams instead.
My goal isn't to find the comfortable lounge chair to sit by the pool at the resort; I want to get out there and explore all that this great world has to offer, and the TIME TO DO IT IS NOW!
